Initial Assessment

All clients are required to complete an initial assessment. The initial assessment allows clients to get a feel and understanding of how counseling will help them.  Clients are able to ask questions and address concerns before making a commitment.

The initial assessment allots time to discuss the practicalities of counseling such as fees, confidentiality, office policies and procedures, and other guidelines that both the client and therapist must abide by.

During the initial assessment the therapist is able to make an assessment of the client’s presenting problems and work with the client to establish goals for counseling. Most importantly, this first session allows the client to make an assessment of the therapist and decide if they are compatible.

Attending the initial assessment does not mean you are obliged to continue on to counseling sessions. The initial assessment lasts for up to 1 hour. There is a non-refundable Initial Assessment fee of $150.

Telehealth Services

Telehealth services are defined as, “The use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health car, patient and professional health-related education, pubic health and health administration” (Health Resources and Services Administration, 2017). Telehealth services are not appropriate for all clients. If you are interested in telehealth services, you  must be assessed before telehealth services can be provided.

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

It is your responsibility to determine the coverage your particular company will provide by contacting the customer service office.

 Co-payments are due at the time of service. Cash, debit, and all major credit cards are accepted.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Since the scheduling of an appointment involves the reservation of time specifically set for an individual, couple, or family, a minimum of 48 hours (2 day) notice is required for re-scheduling or canceling an appointment. If you are using insurance, please be mindful that insurance companies do not reimburse for missed sessions. Self-pay clients will be charged the full fee for sessions missed without such notification.
